2006 Herbal Combinations
This is only the beginning of the herbal combinations that I have put together. They all have been field tested with success. Custom combinations for specific symptoms upon request.
All of our combination packages contain a ONE MONTH supply. They are packaged in tamperproof resealable foil stand-up pouch bags for durability, preservation and protection of the contents. Any unused herbs can be stored long-term in the freezer.

The Basics - "Whole Horse" Combo
This herbal combination is a wonderful overall feed additive. It is designed to provide the horse with a bit of everything to help keep him at his best. It is a “whole horse” combination that’s purpose is to aid in overall health of all body systems. An excellent addition to your daily feeding program.

Ingredients: Burdock, Chickweed, Dandelion, Nettle, Slippery Elm, Yellowdock
Standard Dosage: 2 tablespoons daily

Immunity Aid
An excellent herbal combination to aid in improving immune response. Indicated to help the body fight viruses, bacteria, fungal and poor healing response. Excellent herbal combination to use when changing your horse’s environment and/or general conditions that may affect his body systems. For example, stalling in the local arena or hauling to a new facility that will expose him/her to new stresses. Also indicated when your horse is “rundown” or has that “just not right” look.

Ingredients: Capsicum, Cat’s Claw, Garlic and Witch Hazel
Standard Dosage: 1 tablespoon daily

Ligaments Tendons
A combination that is designed to support the conditioning and recovery process of your equine athlete. Aids as a blood cleanser and builder, removing toxins from the system, has anti-inflamitory properties and can be used as a tonic for the whole system. The herbs used in this combination have been traditionally used to aid in nerve pain, spasms, internal bleeding and recovery from fatigue.

Ingredients: Beet Root, Chickweed, Oat Straw, Red Clover, Wood Betony, Yarrow
Standard Dosage: 2 tablespoons daily

Cool Focus
A great herbal combination to help your horse to effectively handle the unique stresses of his world. This product is designed to promote an overall calmness by touching on various indications. With properties traditionally indicated as nervines, sedatives, and antispasmatics, as well as to relieve dizziness, brain and nerve pressure and tensions of over-excitement.

Ingredients: Celery Seed, Coltsfoot, Feverfew, Lemon Balm, Skullcap
Standard Dosage: 2 tablespoons daily

Lung Relief
This combination is indicated for "heavy" lung conditions.  It is designed to help expel mucus, increase circulation, soothes inflamed tissues, and aids in relieving chest congestion.   Helps the body control coughing, eases sore throats, and allows the system to regain normal breath patterns.

Ingredients: Mullein, Capsicum, Ginger, Elecampane, Yerba Santa
Standard Dosage: 2 tablespoons daily

Kidney Clean
An excellent combination to aid the body in cleansing the kidney system. With today's feed choices of higher protein and lack of natural grazing for many equine athletes the kidneys are often required to work extra hard. This combination is formulated to assist the kidneys in this process. The Chinese consider the skin the "third kidney" making this an excellent addition as a spring cleaner, after your horse has been blanketed for the winter. I have also seen results using this formula in stressed breathing issues as an overworked kidney system can present itself in this manner.

Ingredients: Alfalfa, Dandelion, Sage, Shepherd's Purse
Standard Dosage: 2 tablespoons daily

Liver Builder
The liver is the filter for the blood and when weakened can allow unclean blood to pass back through the system. This herbal combination is designed to aid liver function. It is indicated to help protect, strengthen and restore the liver. In Chinese medicine the emotion that goes with the liver is anger, therefore it is thought that aggression may be a sign of liver upset. When using this combination aggression may become present as the liver cleans, but should only last for a short time.

Note: Should swelling present in the body when using this combination, discontinue and use Kidney Clean for 2 to 4 weeks and then follow with the Liver Builder. Traditionally the kidneys need to be healthy to process the toxins from the liver.

Ingredients: Bayberry, Bloodroot, Centaury, Milk Thistle, Witch Hazel
Standard Dosage: 1 tablespoon daily

Horse Medicine Woman Herbs

Thanks to the encouragement of friends, I've created some natural herbal formulas to help promote optimal health, performance and aid in the recovery from some common horse injuries and conditions.

Herbs
Herbs are an excellent natural source of healing and well-being for your horses and other animals.

Natural Herbs
Sold individually - Only partial listing
Red Raspberry – traditionally used to "even out" the female cycle.  Great for fillies and young mares that are just beginning to develop and for the older mare that's "personality" tends to become altered.   This is a gentle herb and therefore is my first choice in such cases.  Not for use in early pregnancy, but traditionally fed at end of term for ease of delivery.

Devil's Claw – has anti-inflammatory properties, historically used to help joint pain, arthritis, rheumatism, liver, kidney and bladder issues. Thought to be the great cleaner to remove impurities from the system.

Blue Vervain – It has been my experience that this herb is very effective in helping with issues relating to the feet and lower limbs. Seems to aid the body in healing affections of this area.

Passion Flower – an excellent single herb for nervous symptoms. Great non-invasive calmative that tends to allow the horse to still perform at capacity, while allowing them to "think" and move through their issues.

Valerian – This is the "big stick" when it comes to calmatives. Works very well in most instances. However, it will "test" if that is an issue. Once again allows the equine to focus and perform at maximum capacity while letting him move through his issues.

Mullein – I have used Mullein when there is congestion and a cough. I make a tea from the leaves and then use that tea to mix with my beet pulp. This provides an xcellent decongestant and cough suppressant.
