Natural Horse Remedies and Treatments > Apple Cider Vinegar Brace or Liniment
Recipe:
1 Cup Apple Cider Vinegar : 1 Tablespoon Salt
Combine at this ratio in a spray bottle and shake to dissolve salt (any kind of white salt can be used)
Instruction for Use:
Spray liberally on effected area; rub into skin just like you would do with any other liniment.
(Wear rubber gloves if you don’t wish to smell like this mixture.)
- For relieving body soreness:
If your horse has soreness anywhere on his top line (withers, back, loin, hip), then after spraying on the brace mixture, blanket your horse and exercise s/he to create a sweat. You can do this by ponying or lunging or whatever method creates movement and sweats the horse.
If s/he only has minor muscle soreness along back or loin, spray on the brace prior to saddling and exercise.
- As a Leg Brace
Spray on under bandages/wraps and exercise.
This practice is very effective at “moving” toxins out through the skin and easing soreness in the area. One should always do both sides (unilateral) of your horses to maintain and create uniformity.
